1) What techniques Are Used by Marketing Researchers in Business?
https://www.jstor.org/stable/pdf/1250635.pdf?refreqid=excelsior%3Adae45a8881c01aa444e11411868bbebf
This is an online source from the database named "Jstor." This is an academic article. I believe that this is very informational because it contains charts with specific data that is related to the marketing field. I plan on analyzing this data to help me look closer into that marketing field.
2) International Business Travel: Some Explorations

This is also an online source from the database "Jstor." I chose this article because I am interested in business all over the world. I thought it would be helpful to compare the difference in the business feel around the world. I also am planning on interviewing my aunt who is in the Business field and gets to travel to many different countries for business matters.
3) For another source I plan on getting an outline of an email from my boss. She works in the University of Iowa Billing office and writes tons of emails each and everyday. This will be a non-academic source. From the email I will be able to analyze what important points are put into these emails.

Assignment 1: Analytical Report
This assignment consists of collecting information and reporting it. Once I collect the data from the person I interview, I will analyze it. My audience will be college freshmen who may be considering this field, so I will make sure I am targeting them directly. I will also make sure that the information comes across simply and easy to understand. This is similar to a research paper in my past English classes because I will be collecting the data and using sources to support my information. I have also had to interview someone before in my former high school English classes to collect information and then form their responses into a paper.
I have a few questions about this assignment.
1) What do you mean by academic writings and non-academic writings?
2) Does this need to be an in person interview?
3) How advanced does the writer need to be to be suitable to interview?

First Blog
Rhetoric is using speech or writing to persuade or convince. A Greek philosopher Plato defined rhetoric as "the art of winning the soul by discourse." Another Greek philosopher Aristotle stated that "rhetoric is the faculty of discovering in any particular case all of the available means of persuasion." Rhetoric is the art of trying to change the way someone thinks about a certain topic to what you want them to think. Rhetoric is also a study of how people make arguments.
