Rhetoric is using speech or writing to persuade or convince. A Greek philosopher Plato defined rhetoric as "the art of winning the soul by discourse." Another Greek philosopher Aristotle stated that "rhetoric is the faculty of discovering in any particular case all of the available means of persuasion." Rhetoric is the art of trying to change the way someone thinks about a certain topic to what you want them to think. Rhetoric is also a study of how people make arguments.
